The 1987 Rugby World Cup was the first Rugby World Cup. It was held by Australia and New Zealand with 2

stadiums being used in Australia and 9 in New Zealand.

The competition started off in a Pool Stage where the 16 teams were split into four pools of 4. The teams would compete against the other teams in the same pool, the ultimately best 2 teams from each pool would continue onto the next stage.
