Mosese Volavola (born 6 June 1979 in Lautoka, Fiji) is a Fijian rugby union footballer. He plays as a Flanker or as a Lock. His nickname is Mo or Moji.

Volavola is 6 feet 3 inches (190cm) tall and weighs 224 pounds (99kg). He was born in Lautoka Hospital but now lives in Nadroga. He played for the Ravuka Club in Nadroga and from there he got picked for the Nadroga team to play in the Sanyo Cup competition in 2004. He played for the Coastal Stallions in the Colonial Cup. He had a superb season with Nadroga in 2004 and an outstanding game in the Telecom Fiji Cup final to earn a place in the Fiji team. In the same year he played two test for the Fiji team against the New Zealand Divisional XV's team and even though they lost the first test, they made a comeback in the second test defeating the Divisional XV's team by 61-22. He made his international debut in 2005 against Wales. He made it into the Fiji sevens team to the IRB World Sevens Series to Dubai and George. He was handed the captaincy of the Fiji team after former skipper Semisi Naevo was banned for a drinking incident in Japan.

Personal life and career[]

Mosese Volavola is originally from Cuvu,Nadroga but is currently residing at Yadua due to his great grand-mother who was originally from Yadua,Nadroga.His mother Sulueti Volavola a hotel worker at the Fijian Resort who is from Yalobi,Waya,Yasawa and his role model,his father,Ratu Epi Volavola a business man.Volavola is the elderest of four which he had two younger sisters and a younger brother.He was an adopted child of Ratu Joji Volavola(grand-father) and Vani Margo Vulagivou Volavola(grand-mother) who raised him up when he was 4 years old.

He droped out of school at the age of 12 and helped his grand-father at the sugar-cane farm.After his long day from the farm,he used to play touch rugby with his friends at the beach where he develop his skills in rugby.Due to his skills he was picked by the village's rugby team "RAVUKA SHARKS" which made the Nadroga Rugby Union officials to recognise him.Before captainig the Fiji Sevens Team at the Dubai and George Sevens,he then married Sera Nadredre,the Sigatoka villager who is a flight attendant at the Air Pacific.

Volavola is a carrer police officer,currently based at the Lautoka Police Station.
